JANIE GUIMOND B.SC., ERG.

Occupational therapist

Occupational therapist, member of the OEQ Shift: Management and care of concussions, level 1

Janie obtained her diploma in occupational therapy at the University of Montreal in 2007. She is a member of the Order of Occupational Therapists of Quebec (OEQ) and the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (ACE). She also completed her graduate studies in kinesiology before pursuing her greatest passion, volleyball. For 8 years, she wore the colors of Canada around the world, as part of the national volleyball team. After traveling a lot and with her adrenaline-rich experiences, she then plunged back into her other passion, occupational therapy.

Having suffered several concussions herself, Janie wanted, by leaving the world of sport, to develop the support service that she had missed during her injuries. Its main objective is to support patients in their daily difficulties. Both in terms of organization of the occupational schedule, energy management, anxiety, sleep and emotions, changes in social roles, return to work or school and in terms of from developing coping strategies to facilitate leisure and social activities, Janie will be able to offer you the help you need to get through the most difficult times that can occur following a concussion.

She attaches great importance to the relationship of trust with patients and those around them, as well as their involvement in returning to balance.

Janie works in collaboration, if necessary, with the doctor, the insurer, other professionals and loved ones around the suffering person. In addition, it offers the possibility of remote monitoring via videoconference (e.g. Skype) or telephone in order to avoid travel that could trigger certain symptoms.
